ABOUT DERRICK "DIGGER" EARLES

Those who don’t know me are probably wondering how I got the nickname “Digger.” I will admit to wondering that myself sometimes. But, the truth is my grandfather penned that name on me when I was a child. He was a wonderful man and I feel honored that to this day I am known by the nickname he gave his grandson. It’s one of the reasons I have never tried to drop it. It reminds me of him and it is the name almost everyone knows me by.

I am a lifelong resident of Avoyelles Parish, born and raised on a farm in Southern Avoyelles Parish and still retain an active role in the family farming operations. My parents are John Earles and Vickie Rabalais Earles.
I am married to Amy Lemoine Earles of Marksville. We have 4 Children: Natalie age 9, Bayley age 7, P.J. age 5 & Analyse age 4.

After graduating from Bunkie High School I went on to earn a bachelors degree in Agri-Business from USL “University of Southwest Louisiana” currently known as ULL University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I earned a Juris Doctorate of Law from Southern University Law Center. I am currently an attorney in Marksville.

I enjoy spending time with my family, lecturing and staying involved with several different organizations. As most of my friends know, I am an avid hunter and fisherman.
